Pregnancy is brief, and beautiful.

Let’s celebrate: book a maternity session that celebrates your changing body, your growing family, and this season of your life.

27 – 33 weeks ideally

Let’s capture the magic of your growing, pregnant body while it lasts. The best ‘window’ for this is between 27 – 33 weeks, as you can still move and walk and your bump is at its beautiful best.

Magical

Let’s make art – we’ll play with sunlight, shadow, and silhouettes to make your inner goddess shine in the session. These are photos meant to live on your walls and in albums; images to share and love.

Special locations

Whether at home in soft morning light or at one of my favourite locations around Gauteng — farms, dams, wildflower fields — I know the spots that make maternity photographs exceptional. I’ll guide you on timing and location based on the season and your vision.

Photo albums

To be pregnant is to be vitally alive, thoroughly woman, and distressingly inhabited. Soul and spirit are stretched – along with body – making pregnancy a time of transition, growth, and profound beginnings.

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to book a maternity photoshoot?

The ideal window is between 27 and 33 weeks. At this stage your bump is beautifully round and at its best, and you can still move comfortably — walk, sit on the ground, turn easily. Earlier than 27 weeks the bump can be less defined in photos; later than 33 weeks movement can become uncomfortable and there’s more risk of the baby arriving before your session.

What if I’m past 33 weeks — can I still book?

Yes, get in touch and we’ll see what works. Many women at 34–36 weeks have stunning, very obvious bumps and feel great. We’d just confirm your comfort and mobility before booking, and we’d want to work quickly.

What style of maternity photography do you shoot?

My style is emotive, light-led, and unscripted. We’ll work with sunlight, shadow, and silhouettes to create images that feel artistic and personal rather than posed. I love playing with golden hour light and natural settings, but I’m equally happy shooting indoors if that’s more comfortable for you.

What should I wear for a maternity shoot?

Wear what makes you feel like yourself, just a little elevated. Flowing dresses in neutral tones photograph beautifully. If you’re comfortable with it, close-fitting or skin-baring outfits make for stunning silhouette shots. Natural fibres — linen, cotton, silk — look and move beautifully. Avoid bright colours, bold patterns, and anything that feels uncomfortable. You can bring a couple of outfit options and we can decide together on the day.

Do I need to be comfortable with intimate shots?

Not at all — this is entirely up to you. Some clients want full silhouettes and skin shots; others prefer everything covered. You set the level of intimacy and I work within it. You can also change your mind on the day — there’s no pressure to do anything that doesn’t feel right.

Will you make me look good even if I feel awkward in front of a camera?

Yes — and most of my clients feel exactly the same way before we start. I give gentle, specific prompts throughout the session so you’re never just standing there wondering what to do. Within a few minutes most people completely forget about the camera. I’ve been on the other side of the lens at my own maternity sessions — I know how strange it feels, and I know how to make it not feel that way.

Where do maternity sessions take place?

Anywhere you love. I have a curated list of locations around Johannesburg and Pretoria — farms, dams, urban settings, wildflower fields — or we can shoot at home for something more intimate. The golden hour window (60–90 minutes before sunset) gives the most beautiful light. I’ll advise on location and timing once we’ve chatted about your vision.

How long until I receive my photos?

Please allow up to 6 weeks for your gallery. Every image is carefully edited before it reaches you.
