Frequently Asked Questions

The weather, events, what to wear and more.

What should I wear?

In a nutshell, neutral and soft palettes that work well in our environment with natural fibres (like linen, cotton, wool) all photograph beautifully. You can visit my Pinterest board for some inspiration. It’s important to feel good and comfortable, and keep the terrain in mind when choosing your shoes.

Any outfit disasters?

Stay away from unnatural materials like puffer jackets, the colour red (this tends to dominate the shoot), and graphic tees (please hide the Paw Patrol shirt from your toddler). I also recommend you keep phones, bags, and smart watches in the car for the duration of the shoot.

My weather app says it’s going to rain at EXACTLY THE TIME OF OUR SHOOT! What do we do?

This is part and parcel of what happens with a shoot, and yes indeed sometimes we do have to move it! However the weather apps, and Gauteng weather in particular, is very temperamental and often the apps are wrong. I will message you to move it 1 hour before the shoot if it becomes necessary.

I’m sick/ my toddler is a disaster today

Yes! If you or your little one are ill, or it’s been a wretched day, we can certainly move the shoot.

Do you photograph events?

Indeed I do! I’ve done events for brands and personal parties alike.

Can you do personal branding and professional portraits?

Yes! I’ve done a few shoots like this, but primarily can do them over the weekend or Friday mornings due to the availability of my photoshoot locations (not listed here).

Can I hire you to do brand and product photography?

Yes you can! I specialise in natural light, so will use natural light studios or settings that work better with this for work of that nature.

What time do you do photoshoots?

To get the golden light that makes those photos truly special, we need to meet at around 4.30pm (in summer) or around 5.30am. I know this end of day time is a tricky time with toddlers, but with some snacks and the fun games I suggest, it can be a fun change in routine – and it’s just 1 hour and the results will last a lifetime.

Do you travel for photoshoots?

Yes! Let’s talk!
