maternity photoshoot in pretoria

What should I wear?

In a nutshell, neutral and soft palettes that work well in our environment with natural fibres (like linen, cotton, wool) all photograph beautifully. You can visit my Pinterest board for some inspiration. It’s important to feel good and comfortable, and keep the terrain in mind when choosing your shoes. Psst: I send a guide prior to every shoot that has tips to set you up for success.

How far in advance should I book?

For newborn sessions, I recommend reaching out during your second trimester so we can pencil in a date around your due date (babies have their own schedules!). For family and maternity shoots, 3–4 weeks advance booking is ideal, especially during popular months like September–November.

My weather app says it’s going to rain at EXACTLY THE TIME OF OUR SHOOT! What do we do?

Gauteng weather is famously unpredictable, and weather apps are often wrong! I monitor the forecast closely and will message you an hour before our session if we truly need to reschedule. Light clouds can actually create beautiful, soft light, so don’t panic if it looks a bit grey – we might still get amazing photos! Read more about different light types here.

I’m sick/ my toddler is a disaster today

Life happens! If you or your little one are unwell, or if it’s just been one of those days, we can absolutely reschedule. I’d rather wait for everyone to be feeling good so we can capture genuine smiles and joy, not forced ones through the sniffles.

When will I receive my photos?

You can expect your gallery within 6 – 8 weeks from our photoshoot. I have a packed schedule and can’t deliver galleries earlier; if you need it within a certain timeframe, please be sure to book your session with enough leeway for gallery deliver.

Can you do personal branding and professional portraits?

Yes! I’ve done a few shoots like this, but primarily can do them over the weekend or Friday mornings due to the availability of my photoshoot locations (not listed here).

I’m not photogenic / I hate how I look in photos

I hear this all the time, and I promise – it’s not true. The difference between a ‘bad’ photo and a beautiful one is usually just lighting, angles, and a photographer who knows how to make you feel comfortable. My job is to find your best light and capture you in genuine moments where you’re relaxed and being yourself. No awkward posing, no stiff smiles – just you, naturally. You’ll be amazed at the results.

What time do you do photoshoots?

To capture that gorgeous golden light, we typically shoot in the late afternoon around 4.30–5.00pm in summer, or at sunrise around 5.30–6.00am. I know the evening slot can be tricky with tired toddlers, but I promise to make it fun with games and snacks—and one hour of potential grumpiness is worth a lifetime of beautiful memories! Where do you do photoshoots?

All over! I have a lovely location list here, and home is always a great option.
