Photography is an art and much of it lies beyond what happens in front of the lens.
All the photographers I admire have a beautiful and distinct style that lies with:
- where they take their photos (outdoors vs a studio, for example)
- the light they use (flash vs natural, for example)
- the moments they capture (posed vs unposed)
- technical skill (experimenting with aperture and shutter speed)
- and how they then edit these images.
Initially I thought editing was simply correcting the white balance but once I started to experiment with Lightroom, and follow truly talented local photographers on Instagram, I’ve seen that it’s so much more than that. Here is an example of an unedited vs an edited image from a recent photoshoot I did – let me know which you prefer!
